Shootouts
At Studio Fast Forward we are passionate about music and sound, and one of our practices is doing "Shootouts", which basically means comparison sessions of equipment, mics, preamps and sound techniques. recording, in order to become better informed, discover new sounds and become familiar with new techniques.
Telecaster Electric Guitar
For shootout #3, we decided to focus on recording a vintage electric guitar. This is a Fender Telecaster plugged into a 1960s Fender Princeton amp.
Each of the extracts was balanced at -16 LUFS.
Vintage Electric Guitar
For shootout #2, we decided to focus on recording a vintage electric guitar. This is a Gibson ES-125 plugged into a 1960s Fender Princeton amp.
Each of the extracts was balanced at -19 LUFS.
Drum Mono
For Shootout #1, we took the time to try different microphones for a mono drum. The inspiration comes from Gabriel Roth, who succeeds in obtaining very particular sounds. We were curious to try out different microphones and preamps to see if we could find some interesting tones that way for drumming.
